Acces to Coffeeshop Mississippi

In the city of Maastricht, the “ingezetenencriterium” (residency criterion) applies to all coffee shops, which means they are not accessible to foreign tourists. To gain access to this coffee shop, you must be at least 18 years old and always carry a valid identification document, which must be presented for verification upon entry. (Photos of expired identification documents are not accepted).

Access is granted to individuals with a Dutch identification document (passport, identity card, driver’s license, diplomatic passport, refugee or foreigner’s (W) document).

Individuals with a foreign identification document can only gain access if they can also demonstrate that they reside or study in the Netherlands.

This can be done by providing:

  1. An extract from the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP) (not older than 2 years), obtainable from the municipality where you reside and are registered. You may also photograph and store this extract on your phone.

  2. Logging into “mijn overheid” (my government) on your phone using Digi-D.

  3. A student card in combination with proof of registration to demonstrate that you are still studying in the Netherlands. During the transition period of the new academic year (August-September), a combination of a student card and registration proof (email, app) is also accepted.

Documents such as rental contracts, payslips, or others cannot be accepted as proof of residence in the Netherlands due to the strict requirements imposed on us. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
